AR (Accelerated Reader) points are required for all MS students as part of their literature projects grade. First trimester is an easy start into points. If your child read over the summer, he/she can take a test on those books and count the AR points. Each student sets his/her own goal. Please check-in with your child for his/her set goal.

6th Grade
Sixth grade start the year with Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will be working on writing summaries for the chapters as we read them. In English we are also working on Nouns as our first unit. Spelling tests start next week. Look for lists to come home on Monday. Posttests are on Fridays.
7th Grade
Seventh grades first novel is Freak the Mighty by Rodman Phillbrick. We will be working on vocabulary and questions as we read this novel. Our first unit in English is Nouns. We are also writing poetry.
8th Grade
Eighth graders begin the year with The Outsiders by SE Hinton. We will look at vocabulary and questions as we read this novel. Our first unit in English is also Nouns.
